Since 1890, the Dondain family of C.N.I. has been involved in the gum arabic and other natural gum business. So it is not surprising that C.N.I., the parent company of Colloides Naturels, is the leading gum arabic processor in the world today. C.N.I. was one of the first companies to sell processed gum and the first to investigate the chemistry and cultivation of the gum. Today after nearly a half century of research and development, they have developed a new generation of gums, stabilizers, thickeners, emulsifiers, encapsulators and gels that are more efficient than the refined crude gums from which they come. These 'specialty gums" represent the second generation of Colloides with applications in industries such as confectionery, dietary, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, flavoring, beverage, dairy, desserts and meat processing.
